Greenstone Ltd. is a Finnish based company established in 2008 by Eila Gronroos and Riitta Kivitila. While living in China for two years, Eila was introduced to bamboo as a textile material and immediately became fascinated by its features and qualities. The name Greenstone, which is also a common name for jade, also comes from combining Eila and Riitta’s family names Gronroos (green rose) and Kivitila (stone estate).
Eila and Riitta share a common interest in luxurious materials and ecological thinking. As both have families of their own, they know how important it is that materials used in everyday life are sustainable and of high quality. They have also worked in the retail and marketing sectors throughout their lives, and so are familiar with the needs of the consumer as well as businesses for using high quality products.
The founders of Greenstone greatly value the fact that they are familiar with the origins of their products. Before setting up the business, Eila and Riitta travelled to China to gain first-hand knowledge of the entire production process from visiting the Anji bamboo forests all the way to packaging the finished products. In addition, they make regular visit to the manufacturers in Shanghai and Hangzhou to ensure that the quality of Greenstone products is consistent and meet the standards set by both Greenstone and the European consumer.
The key word for all Greenstone products is ecological luxury. Our current product range consists of luxuriously soft bamboo bathroom and home textiles made from 100 per cent organic bamboo.
All products are designed for an environment-conscious customer who appreciates high quality and the exceptional features of our organic bamboo products. We test our products with care and precision in Finland, and supervise the production processes from the Chinese bamboo forests to the point when they reach our end consumer. We also store all our products in Finland in order to make sure every product meets the high quality standards before reaching the customer.

Bamboo active coal is a raw material which has been used in Chinese beauty products for centuries.
Like bamboo fibre, the coal effectively absorbs odours and impurities, and has antibacterial qualities which makes it the perfect base ingredient for various facial and body products.
Greenstone is currently researching bamboo active coal's potential as an extension to the Greenstone product family together with TAMK Consulting Academy in Tampere, Finland.
